Impacts of artificial structures on soft sediments
There are many new coastal defence schemes being built around the UK at the moment. These include the construction of seawalls, groynes, rock revetments and breakwaters. Inevitably the construction of these structures affects the beach infaunal communities, which has knock-on effects on species higher up in the food chain.
